"With great power comes great responsibility" -- but what if the hero is just a hen? Escaping from a chicken farm, she finds refuge in the courtyard of a crumbling restaurant. Little Amélie

Little Amélie

Saturday 9th May, 16:00

A little Belgian girl born in Japan approaches her third birthday, but her world of adventures is about to change. To capture the perspective of a young girl with wide-eyed curiosity, Little Amélie is animated in an impressionistic style, using pastel colours and omitting the usual contours and outlines. The film echoes the narrative techniques of Japanese master animator Hayao Miyazaki.

The Thing

The Thing

Saturday 9th May, 18:45

Workers at a remote Antarctic research station discover a parasitic alien that can invade, assimilate and imitate earthly lifeforms, leading to extreme paranoia as the twelve men try to work out who’s harbouring ‘the thing’.

Underappreciated on its initial release (critics felt the gore effects were overused), The Thing has been re-evaluated for its undeniably scary premise, bleak setting and foreboding atmosphere of dread, and is now considered one of the 1980s’ best horror films.

Amélie (25th Anniversary)

Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s cult classic is re-released in cinemas for the film’s 25th anniversary.

The lonely 23-year-old Amélie decides to become an active member of her community by doing good deeds for those around her. When completing these good deeds, she crosses paths with Nino, a photo booth collagist who shares her oddball sensibilities. She quickly falls in love with him.

Paul McCartney: Man on the Run

Man On The Run

Sunday 10th May, 10:45

What happens when you wake up the morning after leaving the most important rock band of all time? In April 1970, Paul released his first solo album, McCartney, alongside a shocking press release that announced the beloved band had split. When asked what he'd do next, he said his only plan... was to grow up. Man on the Run captures Paul's transformative decade in the wake of The Beatles' break-up. Through stunning archival footage, Linda McCartney's exceptional photographs, and interviews with Mick Jagger, Chrissie Hynde, Sean Ono Lennon, Mary and Stella McCartney, all the living Wings members, and of course Paul himself, the film examines this time through a uniquely vulnerable lens.
